Prior to 1946, Hunter Winfield's was known as
Carlson's Resort, owned by Calvin Carlson. Some of his relatives stop by on occasion and reminisce about working here as children. Calvin was responsible for most of the structures here today.
In 1946, Howie and Lue Severson purchased the resort, calling it Severson's Resort. It stayed that until 60 years later when in August 2006, Margie Landis and Jason Hunter purchased the resort, naming it Hunter Winfield's. (Winfield's after Margie's late grandfather.)
Jason was in a fatal accident later that year. Margie continued on at the resort and in 2008 married Mike Christensen, a professional fishing guide. They now have two children, Claire and Max.
